The BAU campus is in the heart of the city of Mymensingh. The university campus with an area of 485 ha is located in scenic rural surrounding on the western bank of the old Brahmaputra river, 3 km south of district town of Mymensingh and 120 km north of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. The campus is made up of series of academic, administrative and residential buildings and number of experimental farms, gardens, ponds and other related facilities. Besides two national research institutes, namely, Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) and Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI). Physical Infrastructures
Necessary physical infrastructures to accommodate the huge and ever-increasing University activities have also been built up in this campus, which include: 2 administrative buildings, 6 faculty complexes, Teachers-Student Center complex, Extension complex, GTI complex, 11 Halls of residence for students (including two for female students), a central library (with accession of 184,942 vols. of reading materials and a good number of AV materials), a modern auditorium (named as Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium (with sitting capacity of about two thousand), a conference hall, a gymnasium, a stadium and sport complex, a health center (with facilities of free medicare service for all students, university staff and their families), a project complex, 657 units of residential facilities for teachers, officers and employees and a number of other official and community units and facilities. Eleven halls of students' residence are: Isha Khan Hall, Shahjalal Hall, S. Shamsul Haque Hall, S. Nazmul Ahsan Hall, S. Jamal Hossain Hall, Ashraful Haque Hall, H.S. Sohrawardy Hall, Fazlul Huq Hall, Sultana Razia Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Hall and Taposi Rabeya Hall.
The campus has also a Central Shahid Minar and a mausoleum for the martyrs of the great war of l iberation, and `a sculpture of freedom fighters named as "Bijoy-71". |
